Cloud Somersaulting seems a funny name for a blog I know but I will explain. I started this blog to use my significant experience in corporate information systems and knowledge of the sector to give insight into the way in which IS groups may need to change. I'm not looking to advise you on what to do but just to try and give you a different way of looking at what you currently do and how it may change.
Technology has advanced so much over the last few decades that massive leaps in capability in a lot of cases are not even seen as exciting. These changes though have an affect not only on our home lives but also on our working lives. They affect what we expect to see on our desks when we start a new job and how we may expect to work. This in turn affects what expectations will be visited up an IS group.
There is a lot of talk about the "Cloud" and how much money it will save companies, but it is so much more than that. It is potentially the start of a way of being that would not be out of place in a science fiction future, however it has a lot of developing to do and hurdles to cross before that can come to pass.
